Celery Cabbage. This cultivar has flat white fleshy petioles and crepe-like pale yellow leaves.
The head is in the form of an upright cylinder, the leaves held erect and overlapping to form a compact head. The broad and flat petiole of the leaves winged to the base is a characteristic feature. Blades are large, light greenish-yellow, thin veiny, crinkled, and undulate. 

Origin
It is of East Asian origin and first introduced into England in 1887, then grown in America vegetable gardens. 

Health benefits: Consistently, the higher the intake of cabbage-family vegetables, lower the rates of cancer, particular colon and breast cancer..  The anutrient components in cabbage work primarily by increasing antioxidant defense mechanisms and by  improving body's ability to detoxify and eliminate harmful chemicals and hormones. 

Cautions: Cabbage reduces iodine absorption, people who eat cabbage more that 2-3 times a week should ensure they eat iodine rich foods.

The vegetable can be used in soups or together with other greens as a mixed vegetable dish.
